Scott has been treating patients with great success at Lyndhurst dental since 2003, concentrating on periodontal (gum) disease on referral, as well as oral surgery and dental implant treatments.
He qualified from Bristol University and has passed further examinations to obtain memberships to the Royal College of Surgeons England and the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, as well as a diploma in Dental Implantology with distinction from the world-renowned Eastman Dental Institute.
He obtained a Masters by research in the field of restorative dentistry.
He previously worked as a Specialist Dentist in Restorative Dentistry at Bristol Dental Hospital and also prior to that, as a full-time lecturer in Restorative Dentistry, with particular interests in periodontology (gum disease), dental erosion, and dentine hypersensitivity. In addition, he lectured nationally to dentists, hygienists, and therapists.
Scott undertakes all forms of periodontal assessment and treatment, including surgical and non-surgical therapy, regenerative treatments, and correction of gingival height discrepancies and gum grafting. He regularly attends many worldwide courses by global experts in advanced periodontal plastic surgery and the interface between orthodontics and gum problems.
He has also been accepting referrals for tooth extractions since 2003. This includes the surgical removal of impacted wisdom teeth, broken-down teeth, and teeth associated with large infections. He carries out root resections to preserve failing teeth and performs apicectomies, utilising ultrasonic techniques to improve healing outcomes.
Scott places and restores dental implants using Straumann and Nobel Biocare systems—both ranked among the top five implant companies in the world, with global networks of dentists equipped to provide long-term maintenance if patients relocate or emigrate abroad and aren’t able to return to Lyndhurst.
He provides both implant placement and restoration, primarily with screw-retained bridges and crowns. He undertakes all forms of bone grafting, including use of the patient’s own bone (block and locally harvested), allograft, and xenograft, to build bone both horizontally and vertically. He also performs sinus grafts using both the conventional lateral approach and the internal crestal approach. In addition, he offers Nobel All-on-4 type treatments, which can significantly reduce the time required for implants to be loaded and used. He regularly attends many worldwide courses by global experts in advanced methods of implant placement technologies supporting it. He has also helped design implant software with Nobel and previously helped in the assessment of new implant design and function for Straumann.
